Bio/Statement
Bio
I studied art at the Maine College of Art in Portland, Maine. Wanting
to explore my Anthropology and Art History interests, I then graduated from the University Of Southern Maine,
in Portland, with a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology and a Minor in Art History. I draw inspiration and solace from
the wilderness that surrounds my forest area home and studio, which is located in northeastern Vermont. I exhibit regionally
and nationally in solo and group shows.
Statement
Considering myself primarily as a colorist, I work in acrylics
and explore the relationships of color and shape to create dynamic compositions. My work is most closely influenced by the
Color Field Artists of the 1950's and 60's, and my circle paintings are the best representation of this style. My spiral
paintings are inspired by the artwork and patternwork of indigenous cultures. I also have also been re-exploring the
printmaking medium, after many years hiatus, with a new abstract style.
